To ensure that all students become fluent, purposeful and powerful readers and writers, district teachers have worked with the literacy coach to design curriculum calendars for each grade level consisting of sequenced units of study.

These units are designed to take place in inquiry-based classrooms in which learners have daily opportunities to develop interests, pose questions, research, and collaborate. The habits and phases of the inquiry process are outlined here.Units of study are also designed to culminate in written products that display the features and conventions of standard English usage, summarized in the district conventions continuum.
